Canciones

Collaboratively created by Rebecca Martínez, Julián Mesri, Beto O’Byrne, Sara Ornelas, and Meropi Peponides

Join three generations of the legendary Guerrero family as they gather for a special family reunion. In the kitchen, Kati and Ellie are digging up old feuds. On the patio, you can get high (on life) with the cousins, and in the living room, Maestra will tell you about the generations of musicians that came before, while you sit next to her sipping your drink.

As the evening unfolds, secrets are unearthed, old rivalries are revived, and the family is forced to decide who will carry on their musical legacy. Inspired by the seminal Linda Ronstadt album Canciones de mi Padre, Canciones is a site-specific party, an acoustic Mariachi jam, and a family reunion all rolled into an immersive, interactive experience. Come for the tamales—stay for the chisme!

Accessibility: Please note that Canciones is located in a private home. There are 6 steps required to access the front door of the home. Due to the immersive nature of this performance, all seating areas consist of a combination of chairs and standing room. The majority of the performance will take place on the ground floor, with optional travel to the patio and basement via stairs for select scenes. Audience who wishes to remain on the ground floor will still have a full experience of the performance. If you have any accessibility needs or require accommodations, we warmly encourage you to contact us in advance at boxoffice@radicalevolution.org

In partnership with Inclusive Communication Services, we will provide ASL interpretation for our Sunday, May 10 performance at 3 p.m. to ensure full access for Deaf and hard-of-hearing audience members.

If you require accommodations for another date, please contact boxoffice@radicalevolution.org at least one week before the show date. We will do our best to accommodate last-minute requests, but the more notice you provide, the better we can help ensure an accessible experience.

We recommend this performance for ages 13+
