Join the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI), in collaboration with MoMA, for an intergenerational exploration of ecology as a tool of liberation for participants 13 years old and up. Our ancestors read the land, the sky and the animals around them as instruments of freedom and this program invites the community to revisit that knowledge together. The day includes a reimagining of the mosquito as a folktale character linking West Africa to the Caribbean collective mapping of participants’ own stories and healing practices, and a panel exploring the topic through plant knowledge and carnival characters. The day closes with a Fete, embodying heat as a tool for both individual and collective liberation.
