¡Viva Puebla! Fiesta de Cinco de Mayo

¡Viva Puebla! celebrates the resilience, courage, and enduring spirit of the people of Puebla. The program uncovers the deeper meaning behind Cinco de Mayo, commemorating the historic Battle of Puebla in 1862 when a small Mexican force triumphed against the world’s most powerful army at the time. Featuring native and traditional dances, music, and garments, ¡Viva Puebla! honors the bravery that forever changed the course of history in the Americas. By bridging past and present, Calpulli Mexican Dance Company pays homage to the many vibrant communities of Puebla, their traditions very much alive today, and the proud Poblano community in New York City.
